When the going gets tough: the Type ASE-S/120 aluminium high-speed door, shown here measuring 7,5 x 5,0 m in a steelworks application, features a particularly robust design. The door shown was installed in October 2013 and has been in use ever since. The discolouration on the door leaf reflects the extreme wind loads (a chimney effect caused by the heat of molten metal), extreme dust exposure and rainwater that draws the aggressive dust further ‘into the door’.

Due to its width, the high-speed door is protected by 4 radar/presence detectors and 2 laser scanners that capture a three-dimensional view of the area around the opening.

Despite its weight, the door achieves an average speed from start to stop of approx. 1,0 m/sek. in continuous operation!
